You down with Other Pranic Pathways?

Nadis: Rivers of Nerve, Rivers of Prana/ Vitality

We’ll learn about the subtle channels in the body, called Nadis in yogic tradition, and explore how yoga asana (poses) and pranayama (breathwork) affect the nadis (the nerves, veins, arteries), and in turn support physical, mental-emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Class/workshop structure: Introduction to the Nadis, 75 min embodied practice, pranayama, long savasana, integration, reflection and opportunity for discussion.

Practice will focus on sciatic nerve (the hips), radial (shoulder, neck, arms), and vagus nerve (inner organs) pathways.

We’ll use somatic movement, asana (yoga poses), and pranayama (breathwork) to support the flow of prana (life-force/ vitality) through the nadis and clear the pathway for prana to circulate without obstruction.

In this class series we examine the Niyama, five principles from the first limb of yoga that support inner vitality and mitigation of/ liberation from suffering. We will examine both dense and subtle aspects of each of these principles, and how they can be applied to daily life in ways that are both personally and collectively beneficial.
As we turn inward in accordance with the season, we turn to these inward  observances to support resilience, growth, transformation, and ultimately, peace.
Each class includes a short lecture, 60 minute embodied practice, followed by a short meditation and opportunity for group discussion/reflection.
Physical practice will vary from class to class, and from dynamic to restorative.

Week 1: Saucha - cleanliness/ purification: creating mental and physical space for the practice

Week 2: Santosha - contentment: not asking for more, deep presence with what Is

Week 3: Tapas & Svadhyaya: discipline in practice & self-study

Week 4: Isvaripranidhana: letting go: surrender to Source

Nov 6, 13, 20, Dec 4

Each class will include journal prompts/ questions for consideration for you to engage with as an ongoing exploration of each Niyama.
